The story behind the brand

In my family, Locks are not chosen. They are passed down.

Locks Passion was born from this heritage: the desire to create a brand that truly respects Locks and those who wear them.

Angy, founder of Locks Passion

Origin

I was born into it

I was born into a Rastafarian family from Guyana, where everyone had Locks: parents, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, cousins.

For us, Locks are a way of life, an identity, and a quiet pride, naturally passed down from generation to generation.

Very early, I understood a simple thing: our Locks deserved better than hats that were too small and accessories designed for other hair types.

Method before trade

At 10 years old, my aunt taught me crochet

Paul, my father, a Rastafarian artisan with Locks that touch the ground, and Vanessa, my mother, also locked and my lifelong partner, embody the soul and ethics of Locks Passion.

With them, I learned that Locks are not just a hairstyle, but a way of being in the world, made of respect, patience, and creativity.

At 10 years old, my aunt taught me to redo the roots with crochet: this gesture became my first work tool and the basis of my method for maintaining Locks.

The Locks Passion adventure

On the roads of Europe

Before accessories, I brought my method to the natural hair stages: salons, festivals, events dedicated to textured hair in France and Europe.

The Salon Boucles d'Ébène has been the natural hair institution in Paris since 2009. I presented my hairstyling techniques alongside Nahnny Natural Hair Paris, a pioneer in Locks in Paris, and CILUW Créations, a jewelry creator for Locks. A foundational meeting between hairstyling, style, and identity.

My first own stand, alongside my father Paul and his rasta creations: two generations, one community. At the Foire de Paris, I discovered the extent of the demand: dozens of people with Locks left with products, advice, and the feeling that their hair was finally taken seriously.

Locks Passion internationally. Summerjam is the major reggae festival in Europe. I brought my signature techniques and brand to a European audience passionate about Locks and reggae cultures. The buzz went beyond Paris.

At every meeting, I found the same request: advice and solutions truly designed for Locks, not adapted from other hair types.

Paris, 2018

A room just steps from the Eiffel Tower

In 2018, I launched my first DIY masterclasses in Paris to share my method and techniques with the Locks community.

A first on the Parisian market, crowned with success at every edition.

Six masterclasses and individual trainings later, more than 500 people have been trained in a clear, simple, and effective routine for their Locks.

My masterclasses had a clear mission: to transmit and educate.

A voice on the big stage

In 2019, I was invited to speak at the Natural Hair Academy, the reference event for natural hair in France.

For the first time, the Locks Passion routine was presented as a full method, designed for Locks and not adapted from other routines.

"This conference marked the moment when Locks Passion went from a community initiative to a brand recognized by the professional natural hair ecosystem."

2019 pivotal year

Recognized for my style, certified by the State

My unique hairstyles: grid, popcorn, heart style; travel across social networks and attract clients, hairdressers, and enthusiasts.

These techniques have circulated widely on social media. They attracted people with Locks from all over France, curious hairdressers, and natural hair enthusiasts. Above all, they allowed me to prove a simple thing: Locks are incredible and versatile. They are a field of expression.

At the same time, I obtained my CAP Hairdressing to formalize this expertise and affirm that styling Locks is a real profession, practiced with rigor and passion.

The product trigger

If no one was doing it for the Lock users, we were going to do it ourselves.

Locks Passion was born from a simple observation: if no one creates accessories for Lock users, we will do it ourselves.

Night caps, shower caps, accessories... each piece is designed for the texture, length, and maturity of Locks, then tested by the community before being offered for sale.

Today, Locks Passion is a brand, a method, and a community committed to Locks. It is also a network of partner hairdressers, trained students, and clients who share the same values: legitimacy, transmission, pride in wearing their Locks with the best tools to enhance them.
